São Vicente, Cape Verde's Cultural Capital

Explore Cape Verde Like a Local

greenlinetours-39.jpg

São Vicente is the cultural capital of Cape Verde and one of the most rewarding islands to explore. From the vibrant streets of Mindelo to the cloud-covered peak of Monte Verde, every corner of this island has something to discover: colonial architecture, lively markets, fishing villages frozen in time, and coastlines that shift from black volcanic rock to turquoise water within a few kilometers.

We've been showing visitors this island since 2017. Our guides were born and raised here, so what you get isn't a script, it's real local knowledge and a genuine love for where they're from.

Explore São Vicente Your Way

Whether you have a full day to spend or just a few hours, we've built two ways to experience the island.

Day Trips

City, coast, and Monte Verde, at your pace

See the highlights of São Vicente in comfort: Mindelo's historic center, local markets, coastal villages, and the summit of Monte Verde, all with pickup and drop-off at your accommodation. Full day and half day options available, with a multilingual guide the whole way.

Adventures & Short Trips

Hikes, high points, and life under the sea

Our adventure and short trip options take you beyond the standard tour: hike São Vicente's wilder trails, ride up to the island's highest point for sweeping views, or snorkel alongside sea turtles in calm coastal waters. However you like to explore, there's a way to do it here.

Good to know

Getting here

São Vicente is served by Cesária Évora Airport (VXE) in Mindelo, with international flights from Lisbon (about 4 hours) and other European cities on Cabo Verde Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, TUI, easyJet, Transavia, and others. Coming from another island, daily ferries (Nos Ferry, Armas) connect São Vicente and Santo Antão, and CV Interilhas links São Vicente to Santiago, Fogo, and Brava.

Inter-island flights are currently operated by CV Sky. We recommend checking schedules and booking directly at cvsky.cv in advance, as seats can be limited.

Best time to visit

Cape Verde is a year-round destination with over 350 days of sunshine a year. The dry season (November to June) is best for beaches, hiking, and sightseeing. The rainy season (August to October) brings short tropical showers, lush green landscapes, and fewer crowds.

What's included on our tours

Multilingual guides (English, French, Portuguese, Spanish), small groups, pickup and drop-off, and liability insurance on every tour.
